Audio Trip Imaginations: AI Music, R&B History, and the Road to the Innervision Live Tour
Innervision FM was back Wednesday with Johnnie J and Allen C for another lively edition of Audio Trip Imaginations, mixing music, technology, AI creativity, music history, and plenty of conversation about what is happening behind the scenes at Innervision.
The show explored everything from creating music with artificial intelligence to classic R&B, legendary musicians’ birthdays, upcoming concerts, and preparations for the next Innervision Live Tour benefit concert.
What Is Audio Trip Imaginations?
Allen shared more about his developing Audio Trip Storybook concept. The project combines real-life experiences with fictional storytelling to help listeners think about technology, history, disability, and the future in new ways.
Johnnie and Allen also talked about ways to make Audio Trip Imaginations easier for people to discover online. Their discussion included SEO, multiple titles, indexing, shorter YouTube content, and finding ways to increase viewing and listening time.
Can AI Musicians Control the Chords?
One of the most interesting discussions involved AI-generated music.
Allen explained that AI music tools can give creators control over things such as mood, tempo, speed, and pacing, but getting precise control over musical scales and chord progressions can still be challenging. Allen plans to continue experimenting with ways of prompting AI music systems for greater musical control.
That is especially important for musicians who don’t simply want AI to generate a song—they want to remain the producer and musical director behind the technology.
Allen also demonstrated some of his original digitally created music during the program. The conversation showed that music can come from almost anywhere, whether you’re using a Digital Audio Workstation, traditional instruments, glasses, a coffee can, or today’s AI technology.
Usher, Chris Brown, and the Evolution of R&B
The conversation moved into R&B as Dezne brought research to the show about Usher and Chris Brown.
The hosts discussed Usher’s place in modern R&B and how Chris Brown later became especially known for combining R&B vocals with elaborate dancing and choreography. The conversation also touched on J. Cole and today’s generation of performers.
Music is always changing, but today’s artists continue building on what earlier generations created.
This Week in Music History
Music history is always part of Innervision FM.
The show celebrated and discussed musicians including Marshall Thompson of The Chi-Lites, Rob Halford of Judas Priest, Elvis Costello, Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Little Eva.
Johnnie also talked about Queen beginning work on the legendary “Bohemian Rhapsody” in 1975 and the enormous amount of studio production that went into the recording.
From R&B and rock to soul and pop, looking backward helps us understand where today’s music came from.
Innervision Live Tour Preparations Continue
Johnnie also gave listeners an update on preparations for Innervision’s upcoming benefit concert.
Johnnie recently visited the venue with Toni, Leonard, and Paul to look over the performance space. He discussed providing the venue manager with Innervision’s nonprofit information and working on support for the performers.
Promotion is now a major priority.
The strategy includes having performers personally call their friends, family members, fans, and other contacts while also using social media, short videos, flyers, Instagram posts, and ticket information to reach more people.
Sometimes the old-fashioned telephone can still sell a ticket better than an algorithm!
Supporting Disabled Musicians and Creators
Behind all the music and laughter is the larger mission of Innervision.
Innervision works to create opportunities for blind and disabled musicians, broadcasters, content creators, and other people who may face barriers getting their work heard.
