Innervision FM: Music, History, Wild Stories, and a New Music Bingo Idea
Innervision FM: Music, History, Wild Stories, and a New Music Bingo Idea
August 12, 2026
It was another lively edition of Innervision FM, with Johnnie J, Allen C and Hey Joe (Mike Johnson) mixing music, history, technology, current events, personal stories, and plenty of conversation.
From power outages and dangerous cobras to the discovery of one of the world’s most famous T. rex fossils, this show covered a little bit of everything. The team also looked ahead to new ways of growing Innervision FM, including a possible Music Bingo event for subscribers.
When the Power Goes Out
Johnnie and Mike opened by talking about recent power outages and the challenges that come when the electricity suddenly disappears.
The discussion focused on infrastructure and how dependent modern life has become on reliable electricity. For broadcasters and musicians, losing power can mean losing internet service, computers, recording equipment and the ability to get a show on the air.
That made it a subject the Innervision FM crew could certainly relate to!
Cobras, Antivenom, and a Serious Story
Then the conversation took an unexpected turn—cobras!
Mike shared stories about encounters with cobras, including finding the snakes around tree-root systems. The discussion became more serious as the group talked about the dangers of venomous snake bites and the importance of getting qualified emergency medical treatment as quickly as possible.
Mike also shared a tragic family story involving someone who did not receive appropriate medical treatment soon enough.
The conversation was a powerful reminder that when dealing with a potentially deadly snake bite, getting professional emergency medical care immediately is critical.
When Technology Doesn’t Want to Cooperate
Anybody who produces a live internet radio or video program knows the feeling: everything is ready, and then the technology decides it has other plans.
Johnnie ran into trouble trying to share computer audio with Allen and Mike through Zoom. The crew worked through settings, audio options, and other troubleshooting attempts.
Even experienced broadcasters run into technical problems. That’s part of producing live programming, and the Innervision FM team kept working through it while continuing the show.
Political Satire and Internet Comedy
The conversation also moved into political satire found online, including TikTok videos that portrayed political figures in exaggerated wrestling-style scenarios.
The hosts discussed how political impersonation and satire have been part of American comedy for generations. Today’s technology and social media simply give creators new ways to make—and distribute—the jokes.
As always with satire, the material discussed on the show should be understood as comedy rather than factual news reporting.
A Trip Back Through History
The crew also traveled back in time for some fascinating history.
One highlight was the 1990 discovery of “Sue,” the famous Tyrannosaurus rex fossil near Faith, South Dakota. Fossil hunter Susan Hendrickson discovered the specimen, which would become one of the most famous T. rex skeletons ever found.
Music history was part of the show as well, including recognition of Mark Knopfler, born August 12, 1949. Knopfler became internationally famous as the singer, songwriter, and guitarist behind Dire Straits.
That’s the Innervision FM formula: you never know where the conversation will take you!
Johnnie, Allen, and Mike Look Back
One of the most interesting parts of the show came when the guys started talking about their own history together.
Allen recalled knowing Johnnie since 1991, while Mike talked about connecting with Johnnie in 2007.
Those memories demonstrate something important about Innervision: behind the microphones are relationships and friendships that go back many years.
The group also remembered earlier moments in Innervision’s history, including support and donations that helped the organization continue its work.
A New Idea: Innervision FM Music Bingo!
One of the show’s most exciting ideas was a future Music Bingo event.
Instead of calling traditional bingo numbers, imagine hearing pieces of songs and trying to identify the music on your bingo card.
Johnnie plans to begin organizing the music library needed for the event. The idea is to make Music Bingo an additional benefit for Innervision FM monthly and yearly supporters, with opportunities to participate and win prizes.
More information will be announced as the event is developed.
Growing the Innervision FM Community
Allen encouraged listeners to become more involved instead of simply watching a video and moving on.
What blindness-related subjects would you like Innervision FM to discuss?
What musicians should we interview?
What music-history stories should we cover?
What would you like Johnnie J, Allen C and Hey Joe to debate on a future show?
Leave your ideas in the comments.
Audience participation can help Innervision FM discover new subjects while connecting with more blind and disabled musicians, broadcasters, creators, and listeners.
Building the Innervision Story Online
Another goal discussed during the show was creating a stronger online portfolio documenting Innervision’s history.
That means telling the story of how the organization and its broadcasting work developed over the years, documenting important milestones and strengthening the information available online so people searching for Innervision FM can better understand its longevity and mission.
That history matters.
Innervision isn’t simply about putting another program on the internet. The larger mission is creating opportunities, education and exposure for blind and disabled musicians, broadcasters, and content creators.
What’s Next?
Johnnie will continue organizing music for the proposed Music Bingo event, developing the event for supporters, strengthening Innervision FM’s online portfolio, and preparing future programming.
And, as always, the audience is part of the mission.
If you enjoy what Innervision FM is doing, like, share and subscribe. Leave a comment, tell a friend about the show and support Innervision’s programming.
Your participation helps us continue building a platform where blind and disabled artists and broadcasters can develop their talents and be heard.
Keep listening, keep supporting independent music, and we’ll see you on the next Innervision FM show!
